There are many different opinions on whether alcohol consumption correlates with smoking cannabis. Alcohol and drugs can make a person’s mental state less stable, leading to the feeling of being “crossfaded.” However, some people seem to point toward alcohol as being beneficial to and even enhancing your cannabis experience. If you’d like to learn more about the effects of pairing cannabis and alcohol together, here is a simple guide.

It’s important to infuse high-proof alcohol to create a multifunctional cannabis consumable base. This means your cannabis spirit infusion essentially becomes a cannabis tincture. Weed tinctures are typically added to cannabis-infused candies and weed-related recipes. You can use your weed infusion in many different types of canna products, such as cannabis cocktails, edibles, and more.

Why Even Combine Cannabis And Alcohol?

The effects of combining alcohol and cannabis are subject to speculation. Let’s see how they compare. In a recent study, it was observed that when individuals drink alcohol, the concentration of THC in their blood increases. This suggests that their consumption of alcohol enhances the psychoactive effects associated with marijuana use. This is why many cannabis enthusiasts try their hand at making drinks mixed with alcohol and cannabis: to experiment with a new way of enhancing the stoner experience.

How To Make Cannabis-Infused Vodka

Cannabis can be mixed with virtually any type of alcohol, but vodka is the most versatile. Weed-infused vodka can be made in several ways. In this article, we are going to focus on two of the simplest methods for extraction at home: vodka and cannabis-infused honey.

How long will this cannabis spirit infusion take?

The cooking time for weed vodka is quite short. It only takes about 45 minutes to prepare the infusion of THC and alcohol. The best way to store cannabis-infused vodka is to keep it in the freezer for at least 2 days, and up to 2 weeks. As a result, you will get the best flavor and potency from your cannabis-infused alcoholic drink.

What cocktails pair nicely with weed vodka?

Weed-infused vodka is a great addition to many cannabis cocktails. Be careful not to overdo it with this herbaceous drink. You can use this in your cocktails for an advantage.

Vodka With Cannabis Honey

First, let’s discuss how to make cannabis-infused vodka by combining it with pot honey. This method is more complicated than cold brew coffee because it requires many ingredients.

Ingredients & Hardware For Cannabis Honey Vodka

First, let’s lay out what you need:

  • A mason jar
  • A saucepan for a water bath
  • A blender
  • A cheesecloth

As well as:

  • 2 grams of decarbed cannabis
  • 150g (½ cup) of honey
  • 52.25g (¼ cup) of coconut oil
  • 500ml of vodka

Instructions For Honey-Cannabis Vodka

Step One: You will first need to prepare your cannabis honey. To do this, grind the decarboxylated weed to a coarse consistency and add it to whatever type of oil you have available- add an edible quality. You will not experience psychoactive effects without decarboxylation.

Step Two: Put the sealed water jar into a warm water bath on low heat for about 2 hours. Crushing cannabis flower in oil without exposing it to heat is how you achieve the most potent olive oil ever.

Step Three: Break up the cannabis and place it in a cheesecloth. After two hours, take the cloth and tail through oil to allow bits of plant material to filter out. Gently squeeze the cheesecloth to make sure all of the oil has been removed from it.

Step Four: Combine the cannabis-infused oil with honey.

Step Five: Put 500 ml of vodka in a blender, then add the cannabis-infused honey to it.

Step Six: Blend the pancake batter until well combined. Pour the weed-infused vodka into a bottle and let it cool completely before sealing or serving.

Infuse Vodka Directly With Cannabis

This second method approaches cannabis vodka differently from the first. For cannabis-infused vodka, simply mix the cannabis with a bottle of vodka.

Necessary Equipment For Cannabis-Infused Vodka

First, make sure you have everything necessary to complete the steps:

  • A double boiler
  • A cheesecloth
  • A thermometer

You will also need:

  • 1-3 grams of decarboxylated cannabis
  • 250ml of vodka

Instructions For Cannabis-Infused Vodka

Step One: Adjust the potency of your cannabis to a medium-grade grain and wrap it in cheesecloth. Important note: make sure the cannabis has been decarboxylated before infusing it into vodka, or there will be no psychoactive effects.

Step Two: To make a double boiler using the cheesecloth, place your cannabis inside of it and then put it over some boiling water. Heat this on low heat.

Step Three: Add 250ml (8.76oz) of vodka to the small saucepan and place cheesecloth inside. Allow the cannabis to infuse with vodka for 2-3 hours. The ideal temperature for vodka is not higher than 140°F (60°C) because alcohol evaporates at a higher temperature.

Step Four: After simmering your cannabis infusion to the correct time, remove it from the cheesecloth and pour it into a glass container. The water needs to be completely cool before you can seal it or store it, and should always be stored in a dark place.

Safe Consumption Is Key

Combining alcohol and cannabis can be highly problematic. However, when done responsibly and with knowledge of one’s limits, the side effects can be minimized. Alcohol intensifies the effects of a high. When mixed with intoxication it can be an overwhelming state of mind. Side-effects may include dizziness, nausea, and vomiting; you’re also advised not to operate heavy machinery, as combining the two drugs will heavily impair your motor skills. Alcohol is one of the most common ways to consume cannabis. People often combine alcohol with cannabis under the impression that it enhances their experience, but this can lead them to have a distorted perception of reality and pass out from inebriation more quickly than if they were drinking straight alcohol.

Enjoy Your Cannabis-Infused Vodka Responsibly

Now that you know how to make your cannabis-infused vodka at home, it’s important to enjoy it responsibly. Alcohol can be damaging even when consumed in moderate amounts, so it should not be taken with marijuana. Even though people drink responsibly most of the time, combining alcohol and cannabis is mostly advisable for those that are more experienced with both substances.

I would like to infuse vodka with THC. Wanting to use harvest scraps, sugar leaves, bud trimmings etc. Any advice appreciated.

I have a friend who would clean his dab rig with the same bottle of everclear Everytime… He used to hand out single shots and people would get obliterated. The guy dabbed a lot!

I just have multiple dab bubblers, only use them for concentrates, and when they get messy I just heat them up super slowly over some parchment to collect the reclaim. Once the reclaim dries up and goes from that waxy look back to a nice oil, I fetch it with a dab tool and toss it in empty concentrate jars. Now sure, I could stir a gram into a shot of vodka, that’d knock someone down for 6-8hrs in ~2hrs… or I could put .5 gr into an 30mm banger insert and hotbox a room instantly.
Reclaim always seems to be missing the euphoric lighter oils. It’s always a sedative high for me no matter what I’ve dabbed. So while I get nice and high, I do save it for bedtime.

If you’re set on using vodka get the highest proof available, but you’d be better served using everclear (grain alcohol). Other than that I’d say just let your goodies sit in the alcohol for at least a month and try to shake it at least once a day for 30 seconds.

Consider using Bacardi 151 instead. You’ll get a much better final product.

      1. Yum_WeedBudz

Yes, this! Decatur trimmings, stems and waste and add them to 151. It’s drinkable and will rocket your ass to the moon! Oh and should be a mellow high combined with the alcohol.

Thanks for the info. Do you have to heat the plant material 1st to change the THC structure? In the same way that you don’t get high eating raw bud? Thanks for the info.

          1. The_Weedtime_Club420

Yeah you need to decarb it first to convert it to THC, else you’ll have a THCA mixture that doesn’t give you your desired effects.
