Easy edibles to make

Easy edibles to make

If you’ve ever dabbled in the culinary arts beyond a night eating out or a cup of instant noodles, then you understand the joy and satisfaction.

Making yourself a delicious meal is every bit as rewarding as the Food Channel would have you believe. But if you also happen to be somewhat of a weed aficionado, then we’ve got some exciting weed edibles for you to try today!

We’re not just talking brownies either (but, hey, they might make an appearance anyway). Let’s explore some of the best cuisines your bud has ever met.

Before we start looking at how to make edibles, let’s talk for a bit about why you might want to consider them in the first place.

You may have tried it all – blunts, oils, vape pens, etc. – but there’s just something a little special about edibles. In particular, weed edibles make for a longer lasting and more relaxing experience.

When you eat a pot edible, it takes longer to absorb, but when it does, it hits differently than other forms. Most notably, by eating cannabis-infused meals, it means it will pass through your liver.

Smoking or vaping marijuana goes straight to the brain, which is why the high happens so fast (relatively speaking). But eating an edible forces your liver to metabolize delta-9 THC into 11-hydroxy-THC, which hits quicker and harder.

So, while it may take a tad bit longer, the experience of an edible will be deeper and more relaxing than others.

To top it off, it’s never a bad thing to cook for yourself! Cooking is psychologically healthy and economically sound.

Edibles are one of the most popular ways to consume marijuana. In fact, many new users prefer edibles to smoking. But some people would rather make their own concoctions than rely on pre-made ones. So what are the easiest edible recipes to make?

A space cake is as awesome as it sounds. Imagine your favourite cake, but infused with the unbridled and buzzing power of cannabis! Pretty much ever coffeeshop in Amsterdam will offer space cakes in one form or another, and they have become increasingly popular with those who want to reach that high, but in a discreet and tasty manner.

With this in mind, we have put together an out-of-this-world space cake recipe so that you can make your very own.

Easy Edibles To Make At Home

Easy edibles to make

Ingredients:

  • 8 grams of cannabis bud, or the equivalent strength in either cuttings or hash.
  • 1 ¾ cups of flour
  • 1 cup of non-salted butter
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ¾ teaspoons of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • Any other ingredients you want to improve the cake with, such as cocoa powder, vanilla extract, dried fruit, icing/frosting, buttercream, chocolate chips, or anything else – your imagination is your only limit.
Equipment:
  • A grinder
  • A mixing bowl
  • Spatula or mixing spoon
  • A cake oven tin
  • Non-stick spray or lining paper
  • An oven
  • A microwave
  • A small bowl
  • A skewer
  • Optional: A wire rack

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to somewhere between 104°C and 113°C. Place your weed (grinded) in an oven safe container. Heat it in the oven for 30–40 minutes. This will decarboxylate your weed, meaning that all cannabinoids become bioavailable.
  2. Pre-heat your oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
  3. Put your butter in a bowl and place it in the microwave for 20 seconds. You want it to melt into a gloopy, pasty consistency.
  4. Mix your freshly ground up cannabis into the butter.
  5. Add all of the sugar, flour, milk, cannabis butter, eggs, plus anything else you want to your mixing bowl. Mix everything together until you get a batter with a nice even consistency. This may take a few minutes, but it will ensure your cannabis is spread evenly as possible throughout the cake mix. Note: if the mix is a little bit too dry, add a splash of extra milk; if it is too wet, add some extra flour.
  6. Grease your cake tin with non-stick spray, or line it with non-stick baking paper.
  7. Carefully pour your cake batter into the tin, spreading it around so that it is evenly distributed.
  8. Place your tin in the oven and leave for 25 minutes to bake.
  9. After 25 minutes, stab the centre of the cake with a skewer. If it comes out clean, it is ready, if batter sticks to it, leave the cake in the oven for another 5 minutes.
  10. Allow the cake to cool for about 20 minutes in the tin; then place it upside down on the wire rack and remove the tin, allowing it to cool for a further 30 minutes.
  11. Once cooled, decorate the cake with anything you want.

There you have it, a super easy way to make an irresistible space cake – anyone should be able to make it, and the versatility means you can make all kinds of awesome and tantalising flavours. Just remember to enjoy responsibly and let anyone you share it with known what’s in it. You will be on your way to the outer reaches of bliss in no time at all! (allow 45-90 minutes for digestion!)

The Importance of Decarboxylation

We’ll make this quick, but there’s one more note to make before we get to the edible recipes.

For almost all weed edibles, you need to decarboxylate your bud. Basically, this means you need to cook it at about 215 to 225 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes to an hour.

Long story short: it will make your weed more potent in an edible. Otherwise, consuming weed in this way won’t have very much of an effect at all.

Weed Chocolate

Chocolate is both delicious and healthy. As the byproduct cacao seeds, chocolate is basically solid vegetable juice. What makes it unhealthy is all the sugars and other additives that are used to make chocolate more delicious. This is why, in order to get the most benefits, you should go with dark and bitter chocolate.

Turning chocolate into edibles is also pretty easy and convenient. All you need to do is decarboxylate the cannabis, grind it to a fine powder, then add it to molten chocolate. Different recipes will have different steps, but that’s the gist of it. The decarboxylation process is the trickiest part of the recipe, and you can skip if you have some cannabis butter you can use.

Weed Bacon

The bacon craze may have calmed down a bit in recent years, but it’s doubtful the salty treat will ever be completely out of style.

To make your own weed bacon, simply sprinkle ground, decarboxylated flower on one side of each bacon slice. Bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit and flip after about 10 minutes.

Sprinkle the second side and repeat for another 10 minutes.

Fun fact: You’ve now got cannabis-infused bacon grease leftover to use in other dishes!

Cannaoil

Cannaoil can be another foundation of many different recipes. Here’s how to make that:

  • Combine an ounce of ground, decarboxylated bud to 2 cups of oil (coconut, vegetable, etc.)
  • Heat for at least six hours or more without boiling
  • Use some water to keep from burning
  • Strain the oil from the ground-up bud

This weed-infused oil could be the perfect combination for an oil-based salad dressing.

Enjoy!
